This cheerful little star-shaped dish is just the kind of thing I like to find at the thrift store, hidden amongst the faux-Victorian soap dishes and the “I Love You Bear-y Much” figurines. It’s not really good for anything… its small size (about 3 inches across) and the odd shape make it almost useless for storing anything – or at least, for retrieving anything out of its depths. But the soft yellow base color with cool blue, green and purple stripes… and the mulberry color inside, make it impossible to leave behind. Perhaps if Vincent Van Gogh (referenced in the title of this post) had seen this little dish, his attitude would have improved and he’d still have that ear. Which, coincidentally, might be the only thing that really fits in the starry, starry dish.
Awkward.

Someone with the unfortunate name of “TWATTY” made this really cool little pot, possibly on a wheel. The clay itself is colored purple, so the base glazed color is a deep purple. The all-over scroll design is in deep green. The piece stands 2-1/2 inches tall and is 3-1/2 inches wide at its widest point.
I am not entirely sure this one was kid-made (maybe an older kid…), but it’s definitely handmade. It’s dated 1-21-99. The fact that they actually etched their snicker-inducing name in the bottom took some serious balls.

This little pinch pot has bright blue and yellow stripes, a deep blue rim, and a deep green glazed center. It stands about 3 inches high and is about 4 inches wide.
The initials “R.C.” are etched in the bottom. It’s always the ones with just initials that make me so curious about the maker. (And names like Twatty. I admit to being a bit curious about that, too.)
This thrift-store find is very heavy-duty, as it’s at least half an inch thick in most places.
